Since today is National Ukulele Day and a palindromic day (2020-02-02), we decided to write a palindromic song on the ukulele!
The words in the lyrics are the same forward or backwards.
Here's a video[archived] of us recording this song in a beautiful surrounding.
You and me apart Not together Maybe start — let's try again Sing to me And you want universes Where life is fair, right? Or wrong, no? There's truth in love, always Will you? You will always love In truth there's no wrong or right Fair is life where Universes want you and me to sing Again, try: let's start Maybe together, Not apart Me and you

I love the personalized feel, it's like a fireside chat, we're right there with you, applauding alongside you. Really nice melodies, harmonies, and of course ukulele strumming. Crazy coincidence, I had a five-hour interview in SF yesterday where one of the interviewees asked me to whiteboard a function that tested a string to see if it was a palindrome!
It took me a second to believe the lyric was palindromic because it worked so well. And you got a sweet song out of it, too. .Very nice.
Yep, like the others said, very clever - good use of phrasing to make sense of things - top job
Wow, that's so beautiful and sweetly swinging, sort of wistful. Where were you guys recording that? I had the video and the the FAWM player going at the same time for a while. The weird overlap was kinda cool. I love the way y'all sing "me and you"
This reminds me of a Steven Universe song. Which is like the best cartoon soundtrack so... it's high compliment in my book!
Clever! (And again I'm jealous - the view out that window! A house full of songsters!)
Really cool concept, writing the palindromic song! That is so hard to do. I enjoyed the hopeful message and uke tune as well as the harmonies.
very clever 😀 works totally both ways. nicely written and a sweet song full of charm. delivery is lovely too. well done indeed.
I had no idea there is a National Ukulele day. Really nice song and what a great setting for songwriting!
Freaking WOW
This is a wonderful exercise that you hit out of the park. Brilliant.
first of all, the lyrical concept is staggering, and very well executed. the interplay of voices is superb. it's a lovely little progression that the ukulele is perfect for.the low organ accompaniment adds depth to the lightness of the rest of it. very well planned and executed, indeed.
No idea how you came up with it but it's clever stuff! And such a very lovely end result too
Lovely, wistful sound to this song. The interplay between the voices is great and I like the subtle organ in the background. Makes me want to dust off my uke!
im so glad i stumbled across this!!! the ukulele and the harmony is so so good. This is such a cute vibe but I can also feel the deep-ness and compassion behind the lyrics! nice write!
Great collab, brings out the inherant joy in the ukelele. Happy upbeat positive romantic. Big clap from me as well. Indeed, very nice.
Really clever lyric structure--- I imagine there's a fair bit of thought involved in compiling a lyric like this. Lovely duet and the tune is just *on*. 😀 Cheers!
What a fun collab! The uke and the BGV are super charming.
That was adorable. And totally clever.
This is special! Love the duet. Happy loving feel! Made me smile!
Wow that place is beautiful!!! Cool to see you perform this. You were obviously having fun. 😀 Love this line, "There's truth in love, always." This song is so upbeat and bouncy and I like that. The palindrome thing is just on a whole other level.
Wow, really cool way to put the lyrics together. Very nicely done.
Very cute song, love the vocals, the two voices together sound great. Beautifully written, perfect for ukulele day.
Wow didn’t know it was National ukelele day. @santadharma missed a huge opportunity 😂 Lovely pretty little track here. “There’s truth in love always” is a great line.
Beautiful uke and vocal melodies. Love this backwards forwards lyric in honor of Palindrome day!
Well done. I like the way you have put this together.
Wow, this is such a charming song. The ukulele works so nice with the vocals and the harmonies round out the song nicely. I really love "there is truth in love", that's a great line.
Am I impressed? I am! I’ve never imagined such an extended palindrome, and the subject was just perfect for combining with a uke treatment for the double-challenge. Kudos!
This was lovely! I had to read the lyrics a second time to see the palindrome. It was sneaky. Excellent!
Me and You. Fun lyrics and I like the uke. Thanks for your many nice comments on my stuff.
Super clever lyrics! This is the best execution of the palindrome I've heard so far
cleverclever palindromic lyrics! (Bit hard to make a palindromic melody! I tried a FAWM or two ago, to another's palindormic lyric) Fun song. No one would notice the trick without careful looking, which of course is why the trick is so good!!
@cnidaria for this song I played the uke and @littlespiral played a Hammond organ. We recorded with my phone on top of the organ.
This is so damn cute. Perfect interplay between the two vocals. Is that a bass or a synth pulsing in the background? It adds a nice little texture.
This is so lovely and sweet and cleaver. So wonderful to see you guys this weekend in Nacasio.
Is this cute? This is.
What a brilliant idea and so well executed that I had to double-check that the words were indeed pallindromic. Happy National Ukulele Day to you both!
This is beautiful
This was a great listen. The way it was recorded added a ton of intimacy to the track. Made me feel like I was in the room with you both
