I think this is a song about finding yourself in times of change.
First it came like the rain On a summer day Like when we were young I was scared when it came Kept at bay 'Cause the storm was so strong Then I learned to understand And listen and see The signs all around The world took me by the hand And told me to go Where heaven meets the ground There are no reasons to be scared You don't need to forget where you came from When you travel down this path In a long long long afternoon Then it went like the sun After countless hours Of a long summer day Setting slowly, painting colors Touching hearts and emotions That I dare not to say I was new and reborn I was here all along That's what I found Watching the sun Finally resting Where heaven meets the ground There are no reasons to be scared You don't need to forget where you came from When you travel down this path In a long long long afternoon

Cool tune. I think the line "told me to go / Where heaven meets the ground" is key. Travel to the horizon? Travel somewhere that cannot actually be found? So I hear that it's a song about finding yourself, finding truth (that un-findable spot where heaven meets the ground). Enjoyed listening.
The verses are lovely. Maybe they shouldn't resolve back to the I chord?
