Hills of carefree riding

Driving a car on a road trip

Current weather: 13°C (Partly cloudy)

Liner Notes

For this FAWM I wanted to challenge myself to write 14 songs in one session, using a small portable musical instrument that I've been using more and more: the OP-Z. The OP-Z is a drum machine, sampler, sequencer and synthesizer the size of a TV remote control, and I love how it enables me to quickly sketch out song ideas and write full productions.

In addition to the OP-Z, I also used a Korg "mini kaoss pad 2S" to add some effects to the OP-Z, including reverb, filters, and distortion. During January I practiced with the OP-Z and the Korg, trying to make at least a song per day.

I used Titular (http://muse.fawm.org/titular) to generate the titles for the songs, and it really helped my creative process since I tried to interpret the seemingly random titles. For "Hills of carefree riding" I tried to capture the feeling of driving a car on a road trip. The chord progression (D Bm Em F# G A) was stolen from a FAWM song that I wrote back in 2018 called "Ride with me".

I livestreamed my session to YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YnyxxMnXpA) in case anyone is interested in seeing the workflow with the OP-Z.

Ugh I can't wait until I can buy cool gear like this. Nice choice of chords and I'm liking the little plucks! n

Nice head-nodder, my dude. I'm getting into this as I'm setting up my gear for work (and some jelly-making, too...shhh). All this from a little remote-like devise, eh? I dig it.

Yes!! Cool rhythm and beats and dancing broken chords on top of that bass. Love the journey it takes me on through as beautifully lush setting of an ever-changing gorgeous landscape. It is a ride I very much enjoyed going on!

I flipped some of the YouTube video...that was epic! So impressed, and what an amazing way to get to 14 all in one day! I didn't even make it that far in the whole month! So dancy and fun! Well done!

I loved skipping around your YouTube video! That was so cool, but I still have no idea how you do what you do. Looks like a lot of fun though and really produced some cool music!
