For this FAWM I wanted to challenge myself to write 14 songs in one session, using a small portable musical instrument that I've been using more and more: the OP-Z. The OP-Z is a drum machine, sampler, sequencer and synthesizer the size of a TV remote control, and I love how it enables me to quickly sketch out song ideas and write full productions.
In addition to the OP-Z, I also used a Korg "mini kaoss pad 2S" to add some effects to the OP-Z, including reverb, filters, and distortion. During January I practiced with the OP-Z and the Korg, trying to make at least a song per day.
I used Titular (http://muse.fawm.org/titular) to generate the titles for the songs, and it really helped my creative process since I tried to interpret the seemingly random titles. For "Hi bastard" I wanted to write a quirky and comical song, almost like making fun of someone.
I livestreamed my session to YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YnyxxMnXpA) in case anyone is interested in seeing the workflow with the OP-Z.

The organ in the back makes this have that playful goofy feel. ( the title also helps. Like a few buddies saying hi to each other in that joking friend way)
Sounds Great!extra liked around 2:00 and all the play after, really neat.
Those short bursts of dirty are cool. The song overall felt like someone hurrying down a busy city sidewalk, dodging people and occasionally encountering jerks who block the way/slow the pace.
I love the repetitions in this - hypnotic, broken with the wonderful distorted parts. Lovely lead line. This all works really well. I'm going to check out the video too. I liked this a ton! Have to admit I only chose this one because of the title, though. My college band? Self Righteous Bastards. 😉 https://selfrighteousbastards.bandcamp.com/album/earth-day-1990-liv...
I could see this being making fun of someone, kind of teasing. The opz is cool, I've never used one but a lot of people really seem to like them. Holy crap, you have a lot of songs done already!
