This tape started its life during 50-90 last year, but it arrived at @elesimo's hands only after 50-90 had ended. @elesimo recorded the 3rd track with @cnidaria in December, and mailed it to @marvsmooth who decided to wait til FAWM 2020 to finish it.

I'll follow your footsteps in the snow, Call my name, and I'll go, trusting you to know the way I'll follow you, follow you home Sometimes the thunderstorms roll through Dark as night at high noon And it pours so hard I can't see you But I know, I know you're still there I'll follow the sound of your voice through the night When I hear you say it's all right, I know it's true So I'll follow, I'll follow you Dreams are twisty, tricky things Nightmares spread their wings sometimes over our bed And you wake and call my name in a cold sweat Honey, let me be your light I'm here and everything will be all right, you know I love you Follow me, follow me home

Again these 4-track songs are so mystical. Love the vocal on this. The glockenspiel is a great touch.
Whoops, I forgot to comment on the other post. I just did.
The acoustic guitar lick is beautiful, and the bells are nice too. The "u-bass" is fascinating, what is that? Oh, ukulele bass? The lead vocal is perfect for the song. SHAKER! Yes!! I get stupidly excited whenever I hear a shaker. It's a feature. Damn that whistlying is great too.

oh wow! this is beautiful! what a sweet collaboration. so many great moments in this song. this sounds like a lost belle and sebastian song! 😀
I'll never not love the concept of sending tapes round the country/world to collaborate. This is really lovely, and has a lovely warmth to it, both technologically and compositionally!
Thanks for sharing this. Always a fan of Owl's vocals. I used a friend's four track years ago, but never got anything this nice from it. Good job all of you.

Well this is lovely. Something about the fact it's on tape really reminds me of the nineties too. I think some of my favourite music from then had this distinctive tape sound! Other than that the music is really cool and unusual. And very together as well. That glockenspiel really brings it all together imho. Really nice song all in.
Such a pretty, gentle sound! Great collab - well done all! I'm now pining for my Yamaha MT4X, what a beautiful machine that was. But the tape head went and that was that (I suppose I could have fixed it but I didn't).
This is so cool! That bass and glockenspiel add so much. Thanks so much for telling me. Wonderful job and I am amazed all this can happen. Nice!
Quite a journey this tape has been on - I can’t believe how well it all works together, it’s really a testament to all your abilities and understanding the simple ness of the song. The glockenspiel is incredible in this - what a simple but effective bit of instrumentation and pairing it why the bass and whistles - an unexpected but killer combo!! Also the use of internal rhyme in the verses is fantastic 😀
Love the bass line, this is such a great and concise package. The whistling! And of course, it reminds me of Velvet Underground's "Sunday Morning" because of the glockenspiel. Sweet story, a love that weathers storms, darkness and nightmares, but is never in doubt. And that last little note on the glock is kinda perfect.
So gentle and breezy. The way the u-bass and glockenspiel wander playfully together is, dare I say it, adorable. This is a stunning collaboration. Would download were Soundcloud enabled to do so.
This has totally changed my mind about the resurgence in popularity of the cassette tape. I see it can be used for beauty. Sounds a little like a hidden track on a Low album possibly... A perfect lullaby for the end of the evening, which it is for me.
The instruments (and whistling) work so well with the vocals and lyrics - awesome choices for this sweet, dreamy song!
Great collaboration, clearly requiring quite a bit of effort and coordination. Sweet time indeed. All instruments work well together. Good job.
What a nice song and collaboration. These 4track songs and their travels have some magic

Ah, this is the prettiest song I've heard in ages. The glockenspiel in particular sounds dreamy as hell, when people say "why would anyone want to record on tape in this day and age" I feel like that Glock sound should be exhibit #1! Lovely song.
That's a great track, in every regard. -- And, I mean in every regard, but the glockenspiel was a great choice. (I got one last year, glockenspiel, but never got to engage it on anything, -- this was perfect; as all the rest. Great Mwaah on the Bass, angelic vocals, stunning embouchure on the whistling, and superb wrist action on the shaker -- sounds like Basmati Rice against imported east asian vinyl... excellent choice/tone 😀 ) Anyway, -- really great track.
Looking at the lyrics...I like bringing in the snow then thunderstorms. I like the use of auditory sound too...very nice. The dream line is great too. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. guitar...vocals and bells... sound good...bass guitar now...oh so high I can't see you...love...love...shaker now...whistle...good melody...whistle...vocals...sounds good...outro. Awesome song and collaboration!
This is such a great song! When I received it last year from @nancyrost and @owl I didn't know what to do with it, because it felt complete — even the click track, with a cowbell, was lovely! I tried a few things and opted for adding just the whistling, with @cnidaria doing the shakers. @marvsmooth did an amazing job, both in adding the glock, which is perfect for the song, as well as mixing it to keep it light and lovely. A really great collaboration! @owl, those lyrics are just the sweetest thing I've ever heard. They resonate a lot with me, and they're just beautiful.
Oh my, this falls like powdery snow, light and delicate, reflecting the dim light around it. The lyric is really vivid. I like the way the simple bass line walks down at times. Whistling? Heck yes! The glockenspiel is the seasoning that pulls it all together
I'm amazed at what you all built. owl did something really special with my hasty starter, and the whistling, shaker and glockenspiel enhance the song well. Thanks, marvsmooth, for the care you took with mixing.
What a beautiful song! Gentle and gorgeous. All the special touches like u bass, glockenspiel, whistling and of course owl's lovely vocal. This all fits so well together! Awesome start to the 4-track FAWM, even if it was a long time coming!
I really enjoyed this 😀

Won't play?
Musical toy box. Love the sounds created on this. Soft heavenly vocal of touching lyrics. Nice job.
What a wonderful collab. The four-track tape is almost a lost art, but I'm glad FAWM & 50/90 are keeping it alive. It would be great to see a Four-Track-Tape Mix Tape released on an actual cassette. I think there would be many of us who would buy that - especially with lovely tracks like this appearing on it! See You In The Shadows…

Commented on the page.
I can’t believe that I hadn’t commented in any way on this beautiful piece. When I received the tape, I listened to all three tracks together, and there was already something sweetly beautiful there, and I actually said to @elesimo that there was already so much there for what is a delicate song. @nancyrost - I’ll tell you what, that uke bass has a great full time to it, and it’s a great backing. @owl - such lovely lyrics, beautifully delivered, along with that sweet acoustic guitar. There’s almost a She & Him feel already there to my ears! @elesimo and @cnidaria then added lovely whistling and shaker onto the same track, which cemented the song there and then! When I received it, I purposely left it alone until February, and then after listening thought for a while “what the heck can I add?” I went for something I’ve been playing a fair bit since I bought it with my birthday and Christmas money, which is a glockenspiel in the hope that it would work. Great
Beautiful, snow soft, lovely song. Wonderful sentiment. Sweet execution. Love the glock, that's a lovely touch.
The 4 track tape idea is such a cool collaboration, and pretty much all of the ones I have heard, have been great. This one is no exception. I love see all this collaboration between artists.
