@standup says: "When I got this it had some spooky theremin on it, so that naturally made me think of alien invasions."
I moved out to Area 50 desert sun, the air is crispy but right next door is Area 51 and it's too late to get a refund alien saucers flying around all night screeching noises and flashing lights I wish they would just keep it down extraterrestrial playground CHORUS: flyin saucers overhead litttle green critters in my shed peace and quiet is what I crave my eyes are ringing my ears are glazed got earplugs and blackout shades but it's as loud as a freight train living here is my one regret haven't found the upside yet I called up the United Nations I said it's an abomination their excuses were perverse they only deal with nations here on this earth

Solid gold... or is it tin foil? I love everything about this. Y'all have me hoping that next year I have a reliable mailing address and my PortoStudio out of storage because I wanna play with the cool kids ๐
Haha love this one! Can't wait to live near Area 51...maybe I'll live in Area 50 ๐ lol Love the sound effects and visuals throughout; just a fun tune overall! Great job, especially on the theremin! Very cool!
I love this!!
Love this concept! Love the tape hiss, too! I miss my 4-track so much.
This is so playful and fun. It sounds like you all had a blast making it. I adore those theramin wobbles!
Oh, this turned out great! I love doing the 1st track on these challenges because hearing the final song is like Christmas morning! ๐ Love the story, it's such a fun song. Well done with drums, theremin, lyrics, vocals and guitar, you all turned my little chord progressions into something amazing!
Thanks to @elesimo for giving me a solid rhythm acoustic to set the drums too. Made it easy. I'm STOKED how out-0f-the-effin'-world this song got!! ๐ Theremin and Area 51 lyrical adventures for the win!
This is so awesome, and not just because you rhymed 'Area 41' with 'refund', although there is that! But that theramin....mmmmm that theremin...
Those darn neighbours, am I right? What an appealing tune here. Great treatment on the vox. I'm liking the Theramin swooping around in the background. Reminds me a bit of The Byrds' ""Mr. Spaceman" in both lyrics and music (which is a real good thing). Excellent work!
What a fun concept. "I moved to Area 50" is a great set-up for a story, and the pay-off with the United Nations' response does not dissappoint. Nice spooky guitar to accompany the theremin.
Friggng brilliant, really clever lyrics and a solid tune. I love how the background sounds get more and more distracting and demented as the song goes along.
Love this to bits. Solid rhythm section gives this a professional polish, the theremin sets the perfect atmosphere for the lyrics, and the guitar solo follows the vibe perfectly. And what a great story; I love the idea of Area 51's neighbours all knowing exactly what's going on, but they're only focused on stopping the racket from all those saucers joyriding through the neighbourhood...
So I am very amazed and impressed about how this turned out! It is so good! I love how the lyrics pull it together. I must admit I did not hear the guitar track that Nancy did her one take theremin track to, but I remember thinking that I canโt imagine how this is going to fit with any guitar chords!
Where to start? Everybody has put in 100% on this song in my opinion. Nice guitars, great drums by Mr G, and what can you say about that theremin? That is such a good touch! Of course, a song about area 51 wouldnโt have any old solo in it, no! Top job by everybody. Great lyrics and great music.
Great creative song. What a fun listen. Makes me think there should be a "theremin-core" challenge. ๐
THEREMIN!!!!! You had the power to change a song and you (justifiably) took it. Thanks for taking this song in an inevitable direction, as unexpected that direction is. What an awesome song!! The solid backing, the wonderful spacey noises and then that awesome story. Fantastic delivery and great additional spaciness from the electric guitar. You all rocked this!!!
Love that image of the critters in the shed !!! This is great
When I heard the first two parts I had the feeling this would become a story song; they just have that narrative drive. Great lyric, made me laugh! And great work weaving together these disparate elements; this totally fits the folk-song-with-theremin genre. (I was at kahlo2013's house and she had a theremin in the basement - how could I not add it to the tape?)
Yeah! I love it when the four-track tapes start to roll in. The theremin is great, it's not an easy instrument to fit into a conventional song but it does some great work here setting the spooky scene for @standup's alien tale.
Hey Mr Spaceman, won't you please take me along for the ride! Nice collaboration.
