Hi, there!
My name is Beto Dealmeida. I've also gone by Roberto De Almeida in the past.
This is a blog about the different paths I've chosen in my life. I studied oceanography, and worked as a climate scientist. I currently work as a software engineer and I make music in a one-person band called The Fishermen & the Priestess[archived]. I am also a bisexual latino immigrant living in the US. Because of that, I write mostly about music, programming, diversity and politics.
The title of my blog, "Tao etc.", is a play on a common Portuguese expression, "etc. e tal", which can be loosely translated to "etc. and such". It reflects my path and the wide range of things that I'm interested in. I've been blogging on-and-off since 2002, and I first had a blog called "Tao etc." back in 2006.
My current blog is generated using a static site generator that I wrote, called nefelibata[archived] — literally, "one who walks on clouds". Nefelibata follows the POSSE[archived] — Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere — publishing model, allowing for decentralized conversations to happen on the web.
Enjoy your stay.
