This is my entry for the Auntie Sin challenge[archived]. I had to make a synthesis of 2 songs:
Which is the antithesis of:
Combining both was hard! One of them is about "meeting in the middle", while the other is "you can't find me". I had the idea of writing a song about someone who's always in one extreme or the other โ "you can find me, but never in the middle", but when I tried writing some lyrics the inspiration came short.
What I did instead was to load both tracks into my DAW. I added a plugin to convert the sounds to MIDI, and then mapped each track to a different synthesizer. There, now they can play together!
I then recorded the track to a cassette tape, and recorded back to my DAW at half speed. I did this trick for another song during this FAWM and I really liked it, so I wanted to give it another try.

Definitely like the tape trick, and it adds some character to the midi sounds, I think. Really interesting and kinda weirdly timeless-sounding. What kind of tape deck do you use for this?
Very spooky sounding piece, like a ghost sloth lost in the night and haunting a house one room every 50 minutes.
This is one I would never have recognized as being descended from the previous songs by ear. I may have to listen to it speeded up to determine which synth I am!
Super idea well executed. It sounds like a battle between elves (the floating fluty sound) and some Hobgoblins (the low grunting synth). ๐
sounds like british 70s stop motion kids tv show The Clangers - on acid, what HAS that Soup Dragon been putting in the blue string soup? interesting take on the challenge, thanks for playing ๐
Incredibly unnerving and I love it! Very interesting idea and I'd say the execution was a success. I'm imagining floating in a sensory deprivation tank and this is the sound that starts to ring in my ears as all other sounds are removed. And this is how we get to the story of the movie "Altered States".
Hmmm.... I think I have an idea how to 'anti' this one! I feel bad for lowhum coming after me in the antisyn chain but his tough luck ๐ Very cool sounds and effects.
